The SRU's U20 Programme kicks off this week with some seven teams picking up the game of rugby union in 10-session clinics conducted by female coaches from the various clubs.
Girls from Republic Polytechnic, Bukit Batok Secondary School, Overseas Family School and Institute of Technical Education will be playing under the banner of their schools.
Girls who are interested in picking up the game but who would otherwise be unable to participate in the programme under their schools or institutions are also able to participate through teams formed under the clubs.
The teams will be competing in the SRU Girls 7s Rugby Carnival on 10 May 2008.
The success of the 2007 programme has been reflected in the increased participation in the 2007 NRC 15s, 2008 NRC 7s and the selection of several young players to the national 7s squad this year.
Participating teams: Bukit Batok Secondary School, Institute of Technical Education, National Junior College, Overseas Family School, Republic Polytechnic, Bucks, Blacks.
