SRC scored the Guinness Singapore Rugby Women's 10s 2009 Champions title after two rounds of the 10s tournament held over consecutive weekends.

Despite the pull out of Blacks RFC from the second round, the first ever champions title marks a significant milestone for SRC in the local women's rugby scene. SRC Captain Koh Mei Giet was very happy with the win and proud of their players who "played with a lot of spirit in both rounds of the tournament"

"We are especially pleased with our younger players who have been training hard for some time now and we’re just very glad that things fell together and the game plays that Sam came up with worked so well for the tournament."

Having snagged wins against the other four teams in the first round, SRC were in pole position to take the title in round two.

Singapore Rugby's first ever 10s league also marked the first time a tertiary side entered a team into the local women's national tournament.

The girls from National University of Singapore marked their debut by raking the highest score against SRC in first round, a commendable performance for a team participating in only their second tournament.
