Round 1 Game 3
Bucks v SRC
Yio Chu Kang Stadium
by Wang Shao Ing

After two postponed first round games, game 3 round 1 of the Women's XV National Rugby Championships 2008 finally got underway last weeekend.
With the recent departure of several key expatriate players from Bucks, teams had agreed to play a 10 aside game whilst Bucks build their young but promising team.
It did not take long for SRC to exploit the lack of experience in the young Bucks side. After the 2nd quarter, the score was 22 - 0 to SRC, with Karen Yeoh, Annabel Woo, Agnes Low and Samantha Ng finding the try line. The breakdown was a key area for SRC which managed to slow the ball down on opposition ball and ploughed in the numbers when they had possession. It was also here that Bucks suffered most as their young guns rawness showed at the ruck areas.
Despite the above, the third and fourth quarter made for interesting viewing as Bucks made several breaks through their young fly half Ng Pui San and center Yu Chien Chih. Bucks threatened to score twice whilst they were in the SRC 22m.
Bucks contained the score to three tries in the last 2 quarters with Ros Liyana Bte Motto Rossne making some thumping tackles but unable to stop SRC's Hannie Rusli from crossing the line. Bucks were finally rewarded with a try in the dying minutes of the game.
