Singapore Women's 7s have cut their U27 training squad to 15. Of the 12 member team that competed in the 2007 SEA Games, only 4 members, Chua, Ang, Abdullah and Zheng qualified for selection. Lim, Liu, Sim, Tan, Teo and Wong were also part of the 2007 7s squad.
Elsewhere, controversy has broken out over the perceived "snub" by the Organising Committee of the Hong Kong Women's 7s to the 10 times winners the New Zealand Aoteara Maori team, with the change in the eigibility criteria.
The Aotearoa Moari's have won every tournament that they have competed in since the team’s inception eight years ago and are ranked Number One in the world.
