SRU will be organising the following IRB Coaching Courses:

IRB/NCAP Level 1
Dates:
8/9 March 08 (deadline) 22 Feb 2008
5/6 July 08 (deadline) 20 Jun 2008
13/14 Sept 08 (deadline) 29 Aug 2008
Fees: $100/-

IRB/NCAP Level 2
Dates:
31ay 08, 1 / 7 Jun 08 (deadline) 2 May 2008
Fees: $200/-


Leve1 1 Coaching Course

Outline: The purpose of this introductory course is toenable coaches to acquire basic skills so that players new to the game learn toplay in safe, enjoyable competition

Prerequisite: Nil

Duration: 10 hours (1 ˝days)

Assessment: For accreditation : Achievement ofsatisfactory 10 minutes practical assessment; achievement of 80% in open booktests; provision of certificate for fullattendance by IRB; Provision of certificate for NCAP SSC Technical Level 1 by Singapore Sports Council.

Course details: The course focuses on the following aspects of the game:

Playing charter and the principles of rugby
Individual core skills and safety in contact
Practise and planning
Risk Management and ethics
Ready Rugby
Role of the coach
Modified rugby game
Laws
Application of pre designed practisesessions


Level 2 Coaching Course

Outline: The purpose of this course is to enable coaches todevelop skills for coaching age grade and adult players.

Prerequisite: Minimum 3 years playing experiencein NRC league or equivalent

Duration: 18 hours(2 ˝ days)(+ delivery of 12sessions)

Assessment: There are two options:
1. Provisionof certificate for full attendance
2. For accreditation: attendance andparticipation in all modules; achievement of satisfactory practical assessment;achievement of 80% in open book tests; submission of a 12 week coaching diary.Once fulfilled: Provision of certificate for completion by IRB and SingaporeSports Council.

Principles of Attack and Defence
Key factor analysis of individual, mini,sub-unit and unit skills
Relationship between key factor analysisand the principles of attack and defence
Practise and planning
Risk Management and ethics
Revision of ReadyRugby
Role of the coach
Communication
Child and adolescent growth anddevelopment
Laws of the game
Fitness
