One of the most exciting developments for women's rugby in Southeast Asia this year has been the inclusion of women's rugby in the biannual SEA Games in Korat.
Although Singapore features in the annual international and asian tournaments like the HK 7s and the ARFU 7s and 15s, a sub-regional Asian tournament is an excellent opportunity for the Southeast Asian countries to raise the profile of the women's rugby in this region.
The last time men's rugby featured at the SEA Games was in 1995. This year the women look set to face Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR in Korat over a period of three days at the newly-turfed Suranaree Stadium which should see teams play a round-robin followed by the play-offs.
The final 12 member squad for the SEA Games 2007 were selected today.
